Appleton Kindergarten

Welcome to Appleton Kindergarten

Where Tamariki Thrive!

Located in the heart of Dannevirke, Appleton Kindergarten has proudly supported tamariki and their whānau since 1979.

With decades of experience and a strong reputation in the community, we are passionate about providing high-quality early childhood education in a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment.

Our curriculum is grounded in Te Whāriki, New Zealand’s early childhood framework, and is thoughtfully localised to reflect the aspirations of our tamariki, parents, and whānau.

At Appleton, children are empowered to grow, explore, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

What makes us special is our deep commitment to aroha—we prioritise strong, trusting relationships where tamariki feel safe, respected, and valued.

Whanaungatanga is at the heart of everything we do.

Every decision we make begins with the question:

“What is in the best interests of the child?”

Our kaiako intentionally support dispositional learning—nurturing perseverance, creativity, resilience, and curiosity—laying strong foundations for success in life and learning.

Come and experience the Appleton difference—where tamariki are at the centre, learning is meaningful, and every child is seen, heard, and celebrated.

Philosophy

At Appleton Kindergarten, tamariki are at the heart of all we do.

We provide a warm, inclusive environment where children feel safe, respected, and valued.

We value aroha and whanaungatanga, building strong, trusting relationships that support learning and well-being.

We believe in growing confident, capable learners who feel a strong sense of belonging and are empowered to thrive.

Vision

To empower tamariki to grow as confident, curious, and connected learners, grounded in aroha, whanaungatanga, and a strong sense of belonging.
